How to change HDFC credit card billing cycle: Here’s what works in 2025
A billing date and cycle are pre-assigned to an HDFC Bank customer’s credit card account during the approval process, typically set to the 14th or 15th of the month. This default cycle can be changed by the customer, and the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has directed banks to honor such requests if a customer wishes to modify it. Previously, HDFC credit card users could adjust their card’s statement dates using the MyCards app, but this useful feature was removed from the app in 2023. This article explains the alternative options you can try to get this done
HDFC Bank customers have to contact customer care to update their credit card billing cycle in 2025. Dial 1800 2600 / 1800 1600 and ask the AI voice assistant to transfer your call to the credit card section or an agent. If you’re directed to the IVR, press 2 to access the card section and complete the account verification. Once connected to the support, explain your requirement; they will assist you in choosing a new date over the phone.
Alternatively, you can reach customer service over email at customerservices.cards@hdfcbank.com with your request, stating your card number, but the process may take some time as it requires follow-up communications.
Key points customers should remember when requesting a billing cycle change
- Customers are not allowed to select the dates ‘1, 29, 30, or 31.’.
- The newly assigned billing date will apply to all HDFC credit cards on your account, including any add-on cards.
- The activation of your new billing cycle may take up to 45 days, depending on the date of your request and your current billing cycle.
- There used to be no restriction on the number of requests you could make to modify the billing cycle. However, it is now being reported that HDFC Bank allows changes only once a year, and in some cases, only once. Please confirm this with customer care before making a decision.

After raising the request, you will receive an SMS from HDFC Bank informing you that the billing date modification process has begun. You will then get a final confirmation message a few days later, as shown in the screenshot.
Using HDFC MyCards app to change credit card billing date
As we mentioned earlier, the setting to change the billing cycle was removed from the HDFC MyCards app, but you can still check your statement date there.
Although the Mycards is no longer helpful, we are keeping this information in case HDFC Bank reactivates this feature in the future.
Complete these steps on HDFC MyCards PWA to change your billing date. Please note that the changes are not instant. It can take a few weeks before new cycle to come into effect.
- Open HDFC My Card web app and sign-in to your account.
Use a mobile web browser like Safari (on iPhone) or Chrome (on Android) to open the URL mycards.hdfcbank.com, and then login to the web app with your registered mobile number that is on file with HFDC bank.
- Select a credit card and open the card summary.
Swipe through the credit cards and pick that particular a card that needs a billing cycle change. Now click on the “Card Summary” link to access more options that allow billing date modifications.
- Click on “Change” link under Statement Generation Date.
On the Card Summary page, you will find a link to change the “Statement Generation Date”; click on it.
- Choose a new billing cycle for HDFC credit Card.
Now you can see the current billing cycle for your HDFC credit card. Find the small calendar icon below and tap on it as shown in the screenshot. Then pick a date (I selected the 10th) and press the Continue button to confirm the change.
Note the reference number generated on the My Card app post raising the request. You can convey this number to HDFC Bank credit card customer care if your concern is not addressed even after the stipulated time.
Conclusion
Most of the banks in India have implemented the option to take credit card billing cycle change requests through their net banking and mobile apps. HDFC Bank also had this feature available through the MyCards web app; however, it was removed without any notice to customers. Thankfully, we can still request a statement date change by contacting customer support. And that is the only way forward until HDFC reactivates the online option.
FAQs
The thumb rule is to add 20 days to customers billing date to find an HDFC credit card’s payment due date. You also have to consider the number of days in a month while calculating. So if my credit card statement date is the 16th of May (May has 31 days), and if you add 20 days to it, the resulting date is June 5th. Hence, the payment date for my HDFC credit card for the cycle will be June 5th; and this is how you calculate it.
This step is for keeping the statement generation date even across months. Because, you know, months have varying lengths. In Months like May we have 31 days, while in February, we may have 28 or 29 depending on whether it’s a leap year or not. By enforcing it, HDFC intends to keep the billing date and cycle the same regardless of the month.
